In September, WWF Hungary and Budapest University of Technology and Economics facilitated a workshop on exploring the possibilities of nature-based restoration solutions for the Danube and its floodplains, as part of the Danube4All project. Focusing on the Sződliget section of the Danube, we used this workshop as an opportunity to discuss the challenges facing the river and brainstorm potential solutions through nature-based interventions.
The workshop included:
A brief introduction to the Danube4All project
A detailed explanation of the planned intervention at Sződliget
Open discussions with local and nearby Danube communities about the issues affecting the river
Exploring possibilities for expanding the Sződliget project to other locations
Identifying other restoration projects along the Danube
Discussing ways to further involve local communities in the process
We believe that collaborative thinking and empowering local communities to take ownership of their environment are crucial for the future of the Danube!
